The sludge is first mixed with flocculant in the flocculation tank to achieve uniform conditioning. The conditioned sludge enters the screw press chamber and moves towards the discharge area. As the internal space becomes narrower, pressure increases, separating water from sludge through the gaps between the fixed and moving rings. The dewatered sludge cake is then discharged from the end of the machine.
